Future passenger growth is at the heart of Project LIFT, a $500-million investment in the Gold Coast Airport precinct. As long-standing project partners, RLB has been at the forefront of this expansion, delivering full quantity surveying and project management services on both major, minor, and landmark works.

The project encompasses a new and improved three-level terminal, doubling the existing footprint, new aerobridges, additional retail space and a new departure lounge, improved baggage handling and border control facilities, sustainable initiatives and both airside and landside infrastructure upgrades. It also incorporates the new Rydges Gold Coast Airport Hotel with integrated conference facilities.

From early design phases through to planning, delivery, and completion, RLB has been the cost advisor on terminal and airfield projects; including provision of cost management, tender negotiation, construction phase administration, whole-of-life assessments and facilities management inputs.

Our approach combined collaborative best practice with local knowledge and expertise, to interface with multiple consultants and work alongside numerous concurrent projects. As testament to careful planning and a sustained team effort, the airport has remained fully operational throughout, balancing long-term investment priorities of Queensland Airports with business-as-usual operations.

To enable fast-tracked construction of the Rydges Gold Coast Airport Hotel, RLB worked collaboratively to manage staged approval processes and navigated three levels of government – local, state and federal. Our success led to subsequent re-engagement for the construction delivery phase, with RLB serving as project Superintendent, assisting with management, operational planning and launch of this milestone Southern Gold Coast hotel.

We continue to work in collaboration with Queensland Airports to progress the delivery of this comprehensive upgrade.
