Modernising an education facility to celebrate the past, present and future

SAMUEL MARSDEN COLLEGIATE SCHOOL – TE MANAWA O TE KURA

Te Manawa o te Kura (the Heart of the School) is Samuel Marsden Collegiate’s transformative new 1,460 square-metre building, which connects the school from end to end, incorporating an iCentre, Learning Studios and an administrative hub.

Connectivity, long-term flexibility, growth and access to information technology has been achieved in a statement building which celebrates the best of the past and embraces the future.

The design reflects Marsden’s values and special character, by reinstating the original block as the centrepiece, and retaining many valued historic elements.

An excellent standard of accommodation was achieved at an extremely economic cost.

The new facility was opened by (then) Prime Minister John Key.

RLB provided full quantity surveying and cost management services.
Winner – Best in Category – GIB Education and Property, Property Council of New Zealand Property Awards 2017.
