IAN THORPE AQUATIC CENTRE
Named after Australia’s swimming champion, the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre is unique in its wave design, suggestive of a breaking ocean wave.
Clear glass walls on the east and west façades provide city skyline views for swimmers.
The centre feature is a suspended 50-metre pool beneath the curved design roof, as well as a leisure pool, program pool with outdoor terrace, sports medicine clinic and associated amenities and staff facilities.
The centre has received numerous awards including the AIA (NSW) Public Architecture Award, 2008.
RLB provided cost planning, bills of quantities, and post contract services.
