The Sir Owen Glenn National Aquatic Centre in Auckland has been awarded the Holmes Consulting Group Tourism and Leisure Merit Property Award at this year’s Property Council of New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards.
This is one of 14 RLB projects to be recognised on the evening, having provided cost management and quantity surveying services on the project. The RLB project team was led by Director, Bob Buskin.
Mr Buskin said, ‘RLB is proud to have partnered with the AUT Millennium Ownership Trust to deliver an award winning Aquatic Centre for high performance sport in Auckland and New Zealand. This fine Aquatic Centre building provides exceptional facilities for learn to swim and school programs, and is the National Training Centre for Swimming New Zealand.’
The multi-million-dollar partnership was created to develop the world-class venue for aquatic sport, and to meet the growing demand for flat water in Auckland. The purpose-built facility meets FINA specifications for competition swimming pools, contains main competition, training and learn to swim pools, allowing for both high performance and community use.
The Property Council New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within New Zealand’s property development and investment industries.
RLB has partnered with the Property Council New Zealand to present the awards program for more than 18 years.
The 2016 winners were announced on 17 June at a gala dinner at Vector Arena in Auckland, attended by over 1,500 people.
