Calvary Adelaide Hospital and the Salisbury Community Hub in South Australia are in the running for the Woods Bagot Award for Best Public Building at the 2021 Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.

Winner of the 2021 Rider Levett Bucknall South Australian State Development of the Year Award, Calvary Adelaide Hospital is a state-of-the-art private hospital providing over 344 overnight beds and 62 day beds.

The new hospital replaces the Calvary Wakefield Hospital, including its privately-operated 24-hour emergency department, and the Calvary Rehabilitation Hospital.

RLB Director, Ben Anderson, who led the team providing quantity surveying and post contract services said the new hospital is an exemplar of leading health care design and delivery, purpose-built to adapt to clinical and technological change into the future.

“Balancing patient-centric and future-driven care packages with commercial imperatives, the project team drew on deep experience, best practice benchmarks and innovative thinking.”

Another South Australian project, the Salisbury Community Hub involved the design and construction of a new contemporary facility serving as the City of Salisbury’s front of house for customer and community services.

RLB in SA Managing Director, John Drillis, said the innovative project is experiencing high end user approval ratings.

The 2021 winners will be announced on Wednesday 15 December at the ICC Sydney.
