Government-led projects have come up trumps at Australia’s national property awards.
A massive 152 finalists across 20 categories were competing at the 2019 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards in Sydney.
Palais Theatre
Development Victoria was presented with the S4B Award for Best Heritage Development for the careful restoration of St Kilda’s much-loved Palais Theatre.
‘This Melbourne treasure has economic, architectural, historical and cultural significance. The $20 million investment by the Victorian Government and City of Port Phillip has secured the long-term future of the Palais Theatre as a live performance venue,’ says RLB’s Victorian Managing Director Ewen McDonald.

Sunshine Coast University Hospital
The $1.8 billion Sunshine Coast University Hospital won the Woods Bagot Award for Best Public Building. The hospital, which opened in 2017 is the largest healthcare building to ever receive 6 Star Green Star ratings for design and construction from the Green Building Council of Australia.
‘This state-of-the-art health facility, delivered by Lendlease is a sustainable superstar. The hospital has reset our expectations for green healthcare in Australia, and carefully balances environmental considerations like energy efficiency with people-centric design,’ says RLB’s Queensland Managing Director David Stewart.

2019 Innovation & Excellence Awards
This year, 152 finalists competed for national recognition in 20 categories.
RLB has partnered with the Property Council of Australia to present the Innovation & Excellence Awards program since its inception in 1982.
