A finalist in the 2020 Property Council New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards, Te Omanga Hospice is a new purpose-built and fully-fundraised facility, set in the centre of a flat landscaped one-hectare site in Lower Hutt.
The hospice is vying for the Health and Medical Property Award.
Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) provided commercial certainty to Te Omanga Hospice led by Tony Sutherland.
Bounded by a stream to the south and residential properties at all sides, this tranquil setting has been the home of the hospice for many years.
The former earthquake-prone building needed demolition and an environmentally conscious single and two-storey 1,900-square-metre build, with eight generous patient bedrooms was constructed in its place.
Maximising natural daylight and views to all inhabited and transitional areas, each space is designed by CCM Architects to be a restful, uplifting place for guests and staff.
Together with the Property Council New Zealand, RLB is passionate about promoting and celebrating leading practice in the property sector via the Property Industry Awards program.
