Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Long as its new Managing Director in Queensland.

A respected property professional, Matt is just the fourth person to step into the role, succeeding David Stewart, who has served as Managing Director since 2014.

Matt brings extensive experience in quantity surveying services across hospitality including integrated resorts, commercial, retail, residential and mixed-use projects.

Matt has spent the majority of his 20-year career with RLB in Queensland, with the last eight years as Director. A Certified QS and an associate of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Matt holds a Bachelor Applied Science in Quantity Surveying from the Queensland University of Technology.

Over the course of two decades, Matt has provided feasibility advice, cost planning and estimating, value engineering and post-contract cost management on some of Queensland’s most iconic projects such as Queens Wharf, Treasury Casino, Howard Smith Wharf, and Q1.

Retiring Managing Director David Stewart is pleased to pass the baton to capable hands.

‘Matt’s commitment to the highest standards of governance, performance and client management is well known, as is his passion for mentoring staff towards successful project outcomes,’ David says.

‘I have every confidence Matt will continue the work of guiding our great firm towards an exciting future and I am very proud to be handing over the reins to such a distinguished property professional,’ David adds.

Matt acknowledges David’s service as Managing Director and says he looks forward to continuing in David’s footsteps.

‘Under David’s leadership, RLB in Queensland has expanded its expertise in defence, education, infrastructure and research facilities, established its growing programming division, and strengthened its reputation as Australia’s most respected quantity surveying firm,’ Matt says.

‘I, along with the whole RLB community, owe David a depth of gratitude for his commitment, dedication and leadership throughout his term and look forward to celebrating his many achievements closer to his retirement later this year.’

From its humble beginnings in Queensland over 50 years ago, RLB has forged a reputation as the global market leader through independent advice, fresh perspectives and flawless execution.

‘Matt’s experience will be vital as RLB enters the next chapter in its development and the realisation of its vision to shape the future of the built environment, and to create a better tomorrow,’ David concludes.
