Preparing for a potential third runway at Melbourne airport

TAXIWAY ZULU, MELBOURNE AIRPORT

Australia Pacific Airport Melbourne (APAM) is undertaking a project to replace and modify, extend and upgrade the Taxiway Zulu centre section.

The new taxiway network will enable the future expansion of the international terminal, improve aircraft movements in the airport’s northern precinct and prepare for a potential third runway.

Delivered in 4 stages over 52 months, it will consist of more than 250,000 square metres of new taxiway pavement.

It includes the demolition of existing taxiways and hard standings together with new taxiways and hard standings, stormwater drainage, runway/taxiway lighting, hydraulics and communication services and reinstatement of landscaped areas.
