Delivering a fresh perspective for correctional facilities

AUCKLAND SOUTH CORRECTIONS FACILITY

This project demonstrates new approaches to building and operating a corrections facility, to ensure the best outcomes for prisoners. With the aim of reducing the reoffending rate by 25% by 2017, the building's design and function challenges prisoners to change their lives and become constructive members of society.

The modern prison includes international best practice principles in design and operation.

The facility is New Zealand’s first Public Private Partnership (PPP) to be tendered and integrates bespoke facilities over a 17-hectare site at Wiri.
