ACUTE SERVICES BUILDING, CHRISTCHURCH HOSPITAL
The Acute Services Building is one of the anchor projects in Canterbury’s recovery from the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. Scheduled to open in 2018, it will assist in meeting the health needs of its growing and increasingly ageing population.
Featuring advanced seismic design, the building will include a three-storey podium housing the majority of the hospital’s acute facilities and clinical support areas. Two six-level towers will house inpatient floors as well as inpatient units for paediatric, a bone marrow treatment unit and a Child Haematology Oncology Unit (CHOC).
It will also feature purpose-designed spaces for children and a helipad. RLB provided full quantity surveying, including advice to governance.
