Yesterday we laid to rest our good friend Dennis Corke. Dennis commenced at the Melbourne office in 1969, was promoted to partner in 1980, and managing director in 1993 before retiring in 2003.
Dennis’ contributions to RLB and the property industry were significant and his vision, commitment, and energy on a variety of major projects throughout his career helped form the city of Melbourne as we all know it today. His enthusiasm for delivering the next big project for his clients was infectious, and a huge component of his and his colleagues’ successes.
Dennis was also a fellow and past president of the AIQS. He was remembered by the AIQS as ‘a true leader who played a significant part in promoting and enhancing the quantity surveying profession’.
In addition to his devotion to RLB and the property industry, Dennis always found time for his colleagues, friends, and above all, his family, especially his wife Betty, children Neil, Andrew, and Dean, and his much-adored grandkids. Those who knew him learned a great deal about his love for his family, and his strict passion for family holidays.
Post retirement Dennis remained active in the industry serving on several boards and involved in property development.
RLB in Melbourne Managing Director Tony Moleta described Dennis as ‘a true leader and ultimate professional who bled Rider Hunt (now Rider Levett Bucknall)’.
‘The RLB family is saddened to lose a great friend, someone who contributed greatly to the RLB we are proud of today.’
