BLUEWATERS, WHARF RETAIL & ISLAND WIDE INFRASTRUCTURE
Bluewaters is a reclaimed island and home to a mixed-use development and leisure destination which includes retail, hotels, food and beverage outlets and residential buildings.
The 370,000 square metre island features a bespoke ‘souq’ surrounded by a promenade with a wide variety of dining outlets as well as a retail and entertainment centre.
RLB’s work on the 173,000 square metre Wharf Retail development featured complex facades containing a mixture of 50 different material combinations as well as Dubai’s first inflated ETFE canopy covering an area in excess of 7,000 square metres.
The island’s infrastructure incorporates utilities and roads, a pedestrian bridge, and a water taxi terminal. RLB also provided cost management services relating to marine works, addressing groin modifications, beach protection, environmental monitoring, and revetment stabilisation, ensuring the island‘s safety in the event of major storms.
RLB provided pre- and post-contract cost management services for the island’s infrastructure and retail elements, as part of the development manager’s team.
