ENGLAND 2015 RUGBY WORLD CUP
England hosted the 2015 Rugby World Cup across 13 venues, including Twickenham, the London Olympic Stadium, Wembley Stadium and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
RLB provided early venue conversion and overlay budget advice and, in partnership with Event Planning Group, provided project management delivery support to the organising committee venues team.
Our budget advice was provided in the early stages following the award, to assist in the final selection of the 13 venues.
Working with the developing venue team, RLB was able to provide budgets for the refurbishment / upgrade of an initial list of 18 potential venues.
RLB also provided the cost of temporary overlay required for the venues to operate at competition time. These scoped budgets supported the organising committee and assisted in controlling their event costs.
Our project managers worked with the England 2015 organising team at their offices in Twickenham, to support the development of venue designs, procurement and delivery.
In addition, there were 41 venues that acted as team bases for the competing nations chosen through a rigorous selection process. This included a detailed program of site visits as well as liaison with the competing Rugby World Cup 2015 teams.
Each team base would consist of an outdoor / indoor training facility, a swimming pool, gym and hotel, and would be used by the competing teams in the lead up to, and during, the World Cup.
