Lorraine Williamson, Senior Associate at RLB, has been awarded the prestigious RICS Mentor of the Year in the Matrics Surveyor awards 2024.

This accolade recognises her commitment to the highest standard of professionalism, with judges describing Lorraine as “a transformative force within her organisation and the broader industry.”

As Chair of RLB’s REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage) Community, Lorraine is dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed. Her belief that every individual should be able to bring their whole self to work – embracing their unique skills and qualities – was identified as a standout attribute in earning her this award.

Lorraine’s involvement extends beyond her colleagues. She actively collaborates with external organisations including the RICS DEI community, BWRE (Black Women in Real Estate), and WISH (Women in Social Housing). Through these partnerships she supports the voices of under-represented groups to be heard and valued within the built environment.

The judges praised Lorraine’s ability to connect personally with individuals while maintaining a strategic vision for a more inclusive workplace. They noted, “Lorraine’s dedication to mentorship and inclusivity has inspired positive change.  Her work is a testament to the profound impact of inclusive mentorship at all levels, not just for early careerists but for senior leaders”.

Speaking about her achievement, Lorraine commented,

“The built environment serves everyone, so it is vital that we represent all voices. I am delighted to have been recognised with RICS Mentor of the Year. Supporting underrepresented groups is incredibly fulfilling, and this recognition further fuels my passion for driving change. RLB continues to push the boundaries when it comes to advancing the conversation around DE&I, and I am honoured to contribute to that journey.”

Sarah Draper, RLB’s People and Culture Director for UK and Europe shared her congratulations:

“Lorraine has been instrumental in creating the REACH community within RLB, one where our team can learn from each other and discuss topics related to diversity and inclusion. Her expertise and dedication enrich our culture, which places diversity, equity and inclusion at its heart”.
