Global Director of Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB), Ann Bentley has been appointed to the independent expert panel to provide advice to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government on immediate building safety measures following on from the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy.
Ann will work with other members of the Panel including Sir Ken Knight, former London Fire Commissioner and former Government Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser, Dr Peter Bonfield, Chief Executive of the Building Research Establishment and Roy Wilsher, Chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council. The panel is supporting the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), and is looking at the immediate action that is required so that the public can be confident everything possible is being done to make the public and private buildings safe as quickly as possible.
Ann Bentley comments, “The independent panel pulls together expertise from a wide range of backgrounds to provide expertise and a sounding board to government. We are focusing on the immediate measures that the DCLG is putting in place to ensure that existing residential buildings are safe to occupy. The panel is fully supportive of Dame Judith Hackett’s independent review of the building regulations and the interim recommendations made to ensure that all future building work is carried out to the very highest fire safety standards.”
