Rider Levett Bucknall has announced two senior appointments, strengthening its regional and sector offering. Julian Henley joins as Head of Public & Civic sector and Steve Gillingham, currently Head of National Commissions, has also been appointed as Managing Partner of the North West and Northern Ireland.

Julian’s appointment comes on the back of RLB’s growth in the Public & Civic sector, which has already played a pivotal role in post Covid economic recovery. Julian brings over 20 years’ worth of experience in operational delivery, leadership, strategy and business development across public sector areas such as defence, housing, regeneration, water utilities and industrial.

Joining from global consulting and engineering business, Wood, previous clients include the Crown Commercial service, the Ministry of Defence, Homes England and numerous local authorities, many which are shared with RLB. This experience will align with RLB’s strategic commitment to providing client solutions that drive sustainability, improve social value and support town and city regeneration and the levelling up agenda.

Steve Gillingham, who has been with RLB for three years and sits on the Strategic Leadership Board will take up the Managing Partner role for the North West and Northern Ireland. Steve has a track record of successfully leading regional businesses and is part of the fabric of the North West, as an original director of the Northern Powerhouse partnership, and a non-executive director of the Seashell Trust in Cheshire.

His appointment shows a commitment and investment in the UK’s second largest economic region in the UK. With an established presence in Manchester, having run an office there for over 30 years, RLB extended its footprint to Liverpool in 2019 when the team joined with Todd & Ledson. Earlier this month RLB announced the opening of its first Belfast office serving both existing and potential new clients locally but also those national and international clients operating within Northern Ireland.

Andrew Reynolds, Chief Executive at RLB UK, comments, “RLB is a people business. It is the passion, knowledge and expertise that our people bring to our clients’ businesses that drives our success, brings growth to regions and supports best practice within the industry. These two new appointments strengthen the focus on a region and sector that are both key to RLB’s ambitious plans for growth.  We are bringing increased investment as a business to a key region, creating local jobs and a positive legacy through the opportunity of our industry.” Both appointments are effective immediately.
