As we celebrate Pride Month, we reflect on the journey of RLB Pride. In just under 18 months, we’ve evolved into a vibrant, established and inclusive community within RLB, sharing personal stories, insights, training, guides, and more for both LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies.

Who we are

Launched by Amy Curnow and Victoria Wood, with the support of a dedicated lead team including senior ally Matt Sharp, RLB Pride has become a cornerstone of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. RLB Pride is dedicated to fostering an inclusive community where LGBTQ+ employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves. We firmly believe that a diverse workforce is key to RLB’s success, and we strive to further make this vision a reality.

“Joining RLB Pride was the first time I felt distinctly included in a safe LGBTQ+ community at work.”

Our ethos

We provide a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ employees to connect, share experiences, and build relationships. By fostering a sense of belonging, we combat isolation and promote mutual support.

We raise awareness about LGBTQ+ identities and issues within RLB through workshops, campaigns, and open dialogue. Our efforts challenge prejudices and misconceptions, promoting understanding and respect for all.

We actively push for policies and practices that ensure equality and inclusion for LGBTQ+ employees. This includes initiatives such as non-discrimination policies, gender-neutral facilities, and inclusive benefits coverage.

“The world needs more allies, acceptance and support.”

Our achievements

Some of our top achievements to date include:

  • Worked with HR to ensure our policies are inclusive and advised on LGBTQ+ policies
  • A change to RLB’s photography guidelines to be more inclusive
  • Collaborating with our colleagues in Oceania to develop their own Pride group
  • Launching a ‘safe space’ email account to allow colleagues to speak to us in confidence around their own journeys
  • Worked with recruitment to ensure diversity begins right from application stage
  • Ran a host of events across RLB offices including Pride month lunch and learn sessions and the 10th anniversary celebration of Houseproud
  • Taken part in Manchester Pride and hosted an event with Building Equality
  • Collaborated with our other D&I communities to align our message of ‘One RLB!’

Our achievements are made possible through the unwavering support of RLB, which has provided time, financial backing, and senior allyship. This support underscores our company’s commitment to our continued efforts.

Not just for Pride Month

RLB Pride is more than just a community; it’s a testament to the power of inclusion and diversity in driving RLB’s success. As we look to the future, we are excited to continue building a workplace where everyone can bring their whole selves to work and thrive together. Here’s to celebrating our journey and the milestones yet to come.
