The EMEA Hotels Monitor, produced by Whitebridge Hospitality, RLB and HOTSTATS, looks at trend analysis within the European hotel sector especially in light of performance, costs and transactions.
The year 2022 had its fair share of challenges, including the ongoing unresolved conflict in Ukraine, political shake-ups, the energy crisis and inflation.
Against this unpredictable backdrop, the hotel industry showed some strong growth in key performance indicators and profit conversion, with some standout regions, including Istanbul, Amsterdam, and Rome. The Paris Luxury sector was the brightest star, returning to pre-Covid occupancy levels. Although, there was a slowdown in hotel development, and cost pressures, particularly with energy and labour costs.
