CAREERS AT RLB

OUR COMMUNITIES ARE A VOICE OF CHANGE

As an independent, 100% employee-owned business, we value the voice of our people. From graduate to director, everyone is encouraged to influence and shape our policies.

We have established community groups made up of colleagues from across the business to help us roll-out initiatives, monitor key areas of ESG performance, and raise awareness of diversity and inclusion issues.

Our community groups, by representing all our employees, are a voice for change and guide our evolution, helping to build an organisation that is inclusive to everybody.

Giving our employees a voice is very important to us. We established our community groups to foster two-way communications and an open and honest culture, enabling stronger connections between colleagues and helping to build a better RLB for everyone.

RLB DE&I is committed to promoting an inclusive workplace where everyone feels they can bring their true selves to work and are recognised and valued for their contribution.

With members representing each of the nine protected characteristics, the community’s role is to monitor key areas of performance and co-ordinate all the activities we carry out to champion and encourage diversity, equity and inclusion at RLB.

This is what we do:

  • Promote workplace inclusion – We run initiatives and deliver training to help create an inclusive work environment that fosters open-mindedness to those in different circumstances or from different backgrounds.
  • Inform and raise awareness – We ensure that our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and the results they achieve, are communicated to all. Through learning lunches, campaigns and line management training, we raise awareness of the many benefits a diverse workforce can bring.
  • Provide advice and support – By promoting the advice and support available at RLB to overcome bias, including through our other community groups, we encourage colleagues to be open and celebrate their individuality and share their personal experiences.
  • Improve industry practice – We help to promote diversity, equity and inclusion across the construction industry by representing RLB externally, building partnerships and sharing best practice.
