CAREERS AT RLB

UNLOCK YOUR POTENTIAL

RLB is a great place to start your career in the built environment. We’re proud of how we guide, mentor and support people from the earliest stages of their careers, laying the foundations for their future success.

RLB’s Future Professionals programme, our development scheme for graduates and apprentices, is designed to cultivate the next generation of industry leaders. This comprehensive scheme spans two years for graduates and five years for apprentices, providing structured training support every step of the way, and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects.

Participants receive mentoring from chartered professionals and additional training focused on both soft and technical skills, ensuring they are well-equipped to achieve their career and chartership goals.

We also provide placements, internships and work experience for undergraduates and graduates across all disciplines.

The programme starts in September each year. If you would like to be part of our next cohort and embark on your career journey with us, explore our Future Professionals pathways to discover the right route for you.

APPRENTICESHIPS – HIGH STANDARD OF ACADEMIC STUDY AND HANDS-ON LEARNING

By combining practical experience with academic study, our degree apprenticeship programmes offer an exceptional opportunity for hands-on learning across a variety of projects.

All our apprentices receive the same high standard of teaching throughout their five-year programmes, which are delivered through a virtual model by the University College of Estate Management, the leading university for supported online education for the built environment.

Upon completing their degree, our apprentices begin working towards chartership, under the guidance of one of RLB’s industry-leading chartered mentors, ensuring they are fully prepared for a successful career in the industry.

I had no prior construction knowledge but RLB is really good at recognising transferable skills. I am now on a chartered surveyor master’s apprenticeship.

The support from RLB has been excellent and I have been provided with detailed knowledge of what a graduate would need to get through to chartership.

GRADUATES – TAILORED TRAINING IN A DYNAMIC AND PRACTICAL ENVIRONMENT

Our graduate programme is a comprehensive two-year learning journey designed to help university graduates gain invaluable hands-on experience across a variety of disciplines and sectors.
Tailored for those with no prior experience, the programme offers structured support and real-world exposure, enabling graduates to develop their skills and knowledge in a dynamic and practical environment.
By working closely with industry professionals and participating in diverse projects, graduates are well-prepared to embark on successful careers and achieve their professional goals.

PLACEMENTS AND WORK EXPERIENCE – GAIN VALUABLE REAL-WORLD INSIGHTS

Our Year Out Placements offer students a unique opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience during their break from university. This hands-on exposure allows them to apply their academic knowledge in practical settings, enriching their understanding and enhancing their final year of studies. By bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, students return to university with a deeper insight into their field.

Many participants are inspired by their experience and choose to join our Future Professionals programme upon completing their degrees, continuing their learning journey with us towards chartership and professional excellence.

Through our summer internships, university students can join us for eight to ten weeks to gain valuable experience within one of our service lines during summer breaks.
