MACALLAN DISTILLERY AND VISITOR EXPERIENCE PROJECT
This 14,800 square metre project forms part of the stunning Scottish landscape, with the differing peaks marking the entrance and visitor centre.
The project won the 2019 RIBA Stirling Prize and the World Architecture Festival 2019 Completed Buildings – Production Energy and Recycling Award. RLB | Schumann provided core specification consultancy including the production and delivery of architectural Specifications on this iconic project.
After six years in the making, this is more than a distillery for The Macallan. A striking piece of contemporary architecture cut into the slope of the land, the building embodies the unique beauty of the birthplace of The Macallan brand.
Embedded in ancient Scottish hills, the distillery and visitor experience are designed to minimise the visual impact on the Speyside landscape while having the maximum breathtaking impact for visiting whisky lovers from all over the world.
