OIL REFINERY EXPANSION
Ballast Nedam Infra Suriname were awarded a $30 million contract by Suriname's state oil company, Staatsolie, for the general civil and steel piling works for the Refinery Expansion Project.
This 18-month project, completed in 2014, doubled the processing capacity at Tout Lui Faut Refinery to 15,000 barrels a day. Thereby enabling the country to reduce its dependence on imported oil products.
RLB was initially appointed to undertake contract administration throughout the project. This role was extended to include assistance with extensive acceleration and delay claims due to disrupted work, drawing on its regional knowledge and experience.
According to Pieter de Bruijn, Contracts Department, BNPA, “Based on previous experience on other projects, we chose RLB to undertake contract administration. They met our expectations as well as added value to the project under challenging conditions.”
