NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CENTRE FOR ORAL HEALTH

Integrating different medical uses into a single building

SINGAPORE

NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CENTRE FOR ORAL HEALTH

The new National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS) is the most recent addition to the National University Health System (NUHS) in Singapore. It was officially opened on 5 July 2019.

The multi-disciplinary facility is able to accommodate approximately 500 patients a day, and provides clinical dental, education and research services under one roof. The NUCOHS embodies a new building typology that obscures the lines between teaching, healing and practice, through a convergence of spaces and porosity between programs.

Besides the NUCOHS building, we also completed the Utility Block (UB) which comprises offices and carparks. An important aspect of this project involved the demolishing, decanting and the relocation of the existing live M&E plant and ancillary services from the nearby National University Hospital (NUH) to the new UB.

NUCOHS was awarded the BCA Universal Design Mark Gold (Design) Award by the BCA in 2017 for creating an environment that addresses the needs of all age groups and abilities, and the Green Mark Award for Building (Platinum). UB was also awarded the Green Mark Award for Building (Platinum).

RLB as the consultant QS for the project, is proud to have played a part in nation building, through the successful delivery of the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS).
