NATIONAL LIBRARY

The new National Library is internationally recognised for its architecture, eco-friendly building and innovative IT features.

This knowledge icon features a modern 16-storey building, with a construction floor area of 79,000 square metres.

The use of bioclimatic vegetation and landscaping improves the indoor thermal environment. Coupled with shades on the façade to help reduce heat. It also features a lighting control system, that switches off automatically when there is sufficient natural light inside the building.

The first public building to receive the BCA Green Mark Platinum Award in 2005.
