NEW ORLEANS CONVENTION CENTER
The expansion and renovation of this mile-long convention center includes iconic components, such as a three-story glass entryway and site plaza at the intersection of Convention Center Boulevard and Julia Street.
A 5,000 SF ‘signature’ room was also included, and a column-free ballroom space to maintain site lines within the existing structure
As well, the expansion and renovation included 63,000 SF of updated ballroom space, an additional 18,000 SF of meeting rooms, and a 41,300 SF of pre-function space.
Challenging elements of the project included varying degrees of demolition, major mechanical and electrical system replacements and upgrades, as they were done within phased construction operations.
At the conceptual and schematic design level, RLB prepared detailed elemental cost estimates to parallel the estimates prepared by the owner’s representative.
In the estimate reconciliation process, RLB’s estimate was within 0.8% of the owner’s representative’s estimate.
