MACALLEN BUILDING
This 13-story residential building features 144 condominium units with parking, the Court Square gymnasium, a sustainable green roof, an outdoor pool, a roof garden, and roof hanging terraces with a storm-water irrigation system.
As the first residential structure in Boston to be LEED certified, the Macallen Building, by design architect Office dA, and architect of record Stantec Architecture, incorporates the Dolphin System. This is an award-winning technique for ultrasonically treating the cooling tower water.
It was built using eco-friendly structural materials, including recycled quartz countertops, recycled linoleum kitchen flooring, bamboo wood flooring, cork wall covering, and recycled carpet.
As cost manager, we prepared elemental quantity take-offs at the design development phase and assisted the client in identifying alternative methods of design and construction through value engineering methods. We then coordinated negotiations to establish a guaranteed maximum price.
