Transformative and Stunning Renovation

Delivering Remarkable Hotel Transformation Amid Challenges

SAN FRANCISO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES

HYATT REGENCY SAN FRANCISO DOWNTOWN SOMA

The Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa Hotel project involved a full renovation, repositioning, and rebranding of the landmark hotel, formerly known as the ‘Park Central.’ The extensive renovation included upgrades to the bathrooms, replacement of flooring and carpets, and the overhaul of FF&E across 686 guest rooms spread across 36 floors. Additionally, the project entailed the complete renovation of the hotel’s ballrooms, meeting rooms, and public areas. Key aspects of the public spaces included the construction of a new restaurant and kitchen, a redesigned bar, a refreshed lobby, and an upgraded porte-cochère. An outdoor dining terrace was also added to enhance the overall guest experience.

RLB’s team played a critical role in design management, on-site construction management, cost management, third-party vendor coordination, and overseeing FF&E shipment and installation. Despite the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic and an accelerated schedule, the team quickly adapted to the evolving project needs. Construction continued amid the pandemic, and RLB smoothly transitioned from remote work to on-site management, leveraging deep hospitality expertise and proprietary methodologies to bring added value to the client and project team.

Throughout the process, RLB efficiently managed ongoing hotel operations, coordinated phasing, access, and shutdowns, and successfully navigated challenges like global supply chain disruptions. Through clear communication, strong processes, and solution-oriented project controls, RLB delivered the project on time and within budget, establishing lasting trust with Highgate and hotel ownership.
