MTN DATA CENTRE - CONCENTRATED SOLAR PLANT ROOM
MTN’s concentrating solar plant system was implemented by the South Africa-German Energy Partnership and proved that this technology worked in South Africa’s sunny climate.
The rooftop plant prevents approximately 280 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. The plant room measures a mere 152 square metres, consisting of a raised platform and steel roof. The concentrating solar power system consists of 242 solar mirrors covering 484 square metres. It can generate pressurised hot water at 180 degrees Celsius, which powers the absorption chiller that circulates chilled water to cool IT equipment.
