Boosting LPG import with new terminal in Saldanha Bay

The Port of Saldanha Bay, located on South Africa’s West Coast, is the largest and deepest natural port in the southern hemisphere.

For ocean-going LPG tankers transporting LPG from the Indian and Atlantic side of Africa, the port is easily accessible and the use of its infrastructure and services are open to third-party LPG importers, distributors or bulk consumers. With the use of a multi-buoy mooring system, a subsea and overland pipeline, storage and blending facilities, the establishment of the new terminal enables broader access to boost the capacity of LPG distributors. It is Africa’s largest open-access liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) import and storage facility with a monthly throughput capacity of 17,500 metric tons, and the modular design allows for further expansion in the next 30 years.
