Rider Levett Bucknall Caribbean leaders panellists at HVS CHICOS conference
Chairman of Rider Levett Bucknall Caribbean, Martyn Bould, and Principal of the Bahamas office, Gordon Glen, were among over 200 attendees at the Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operation Summit (CHICOS) November 10-11 in Nassau, Bahamas.
At the conference, both Martyn and Gordon were panelists for two of the breakout sessions. Martyn joined an illustrious panel of hotel executives and Caribbean construction and development consultants to discuss what is needed to capture and implement alternative financing methods for Caribbean developments, while Gordon was one of five who spoke about ways to improve the competitiveness of Caribbean destinations to attract more tourists.
Parris Jordan, Managing Director of HVS Caribbean, the organizer and a sponsor of the event, said that the aim of the CHICOS conference was to “develop an exchange of opportunities in the area of hotel tourism and related real estate projects as well as to address the current and future needs of the Caribbean hospitality market.”
Some of topics discussed at the conference included: how to create successful integrated resorts, the importance of hospitality education and training, survival tactics for unique operational challenges, and a focus on attracting alternative capital to the Caribbean.
Based on the high level of attendance and the positive comments of the attendees the conference proved a great success. At its close the conference agreed to create a number of task forces specifically focused on addressing the key issues from the deliberations at the conference.
