Bank of China (BOC) Tower was constructed in April 1985. Completed for occupancy in August 1989, the building was opened in May 1990, towering 70 floors above the ground floor level and offering parking in four basement levels. The tower structure of 315 metres and two masts of 50 odd metres give the building its aspiring height of 367.4 metres – which, in 1989, made it the tallest in Hong Kong. It is still one of the tallest office buildings in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Jockey Club are jointly developing a contemporary performing and visual arts hub on the premises of the former Central Police Station (CPS) compound in Central. The revitalised CPS will be operated under a non-profit making model. It is an important heritage conversation initiative with community inputs in the planning process. It is scheduled to be open to the public in 2014.

A dormitory for 200 students, a multi-purpose gymnasium and an indoor swimming pool are stacked on top of each other in order to preserve the landscape and the existing historical steps on the slope built in 1938. Harrow International School, Hong Kong, the first international boarding and day school in Hong Kong is due to open in September 2012. The school is located on a 9-acre site in Tuen Mun, New Territories of Hong Kong. Facilities include a library and learning lounge designed to support student project work with high levels of information technology. Upper school facilities include science laboratories, specialist art, music and drama facilities and a recording studio. An auditorium, sports hall, fitness room and indoor swimming pool are positioned at the opposite end of the crescent from the boarding houses with a sports field taking pride of place in the middle.

The Mandarin Oriental five-star hotel in Hong Kong was the first and flagship hotel of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. The hotel opened in 1963 in Central, Hong Kong. In late December 2005, the hotel’s comprehensive renovation program started. Rider Levett Bucknall provided full cost consultancy services from estimate to final account. The renovation focused on enlarging and upgrading guestrooms, replacing ageing infrastructure and refreshing public spaces. To minimise on-going disruption to the hotel’s operating costs, the renovation program was very tight and completed in just nine months.

The Museum of Coastal Defense sees the successful conversion of Lei Yue Mun Fort, built by the British in 1887, into a field museum. Previously inaccessible to the general public, the hilltop site was made easier to reach by provision of an entrance block with a lift tower and a footbridge that leads visitors to the redoubt. The focal point below-grade courtyard is covered by a tensile fabric structure and underground casements were converted into exhibition rooms, offices, retail facilities and audio-visual facilities. Under the shelter provided by the tensile structure, a viewing gallery has been established above the casements, from which museum patrons can view the channel the fort was originally built to defend.

The 70-storey One Island East project of over 140,000 sq m is an extension of Swire Properties’ Island East investment portfolio, which consists of over 650,000 sq m of office and retail space, stretching from Taikoo Place in the west to the Citiyplaza retail and office complex in the east. The project was aided by a 3-Dimensional BIM Model system named as “Digital Project”. RLB had successfully prepared the Bills of Quantities by using the 3-D BIM system provided by the client. Overview
The contemporisation of Pacific Place Mall is the single largest transformation since its launch in 1988. Led by pioneering architect Thomas Heatherwick, the project includes upgrading the cinema, uplifting interior décor, revamping common areas, redesigning shop facades and reconfiguring facilities. The entire complex adopts an organic and fluid design with greater convenience.

The project was suspended following the global financial tsunami in late 2008. Rider Levett Bucknall was appointed as cost consultant in 2009 when the project was resumed and is involved in the completion of the structural works and fitting out.
Overview
The integrated resort totaling 13.1 million square feet of construction area comprising four towers on eight levels podium and two levels of basement, features approximately 6,000 branded hotel rooms, approximately 300,000 square feet of gaming space, approximately 1.2 million square feet of retail, entertainment and dining facilities, 500,000 square feet of exhibition and conference facilities, and a multipurpose theatre.

Overview
Located in the Luijiazui Finance and Trade Zone, the 128-storey Shanghai Tower will house Class A office, retail, a luxury hotel and cultural venues. The Shanghai Tower rises to complete a trio of towers including the adjacent Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai World Financial Centre (WFC). It will be divided into nine zones. The podium building will offer a high-end retail environment with a major event space. Zones 2 to 6 will be offices while Zones 7 and 8 will be hotel and boutique office space. The uppermost floors will feature the world’s highest non-enclosed observation deck.

The Stanley Municipal Services Building is organized into 2 orders as a way to resolve the problem of the steep change in levels along Stanley New Street. Firstly, all the “leisure & cultural” functions are organized around the courtyard with the wide major entrance fronting the Stanley New Street and facing the main bus terminus across the road to attract pedestrians and tourists. Secondly, the “communal” function such as the Community Hall is facing the Stanley Market Road. Thus the major perimeters of the Building reflect the nature of local street activities and small urban spaces.

Rider Levett Bucknall worked with Venetian Cotai Limited, the construction manager, consultants and contractors to ensure that the development was completed within an extremely tight construction period. Parcel 1 of the Venetian Macau Casino Resort Hotel Complex is the largest single resort development in Macau and includes a casino, retail space, a 40-storey hotel with 3,000 guest rooms and a number of function centres. Covering an area of 1 million sqm, it is big enough to contain three canals (with traditional Italian gondolas) within the shopping arcade.
