RLB Caribbean exhibit at Beijing Overseas Property & Investment Show

With the growing Chinese investment in the Caribbean area coupled with Rider Levett Bucknall’s work as project monitor for the Import Export Bank of China on the Baha Mar resort in Nassau, the firm was invited by the China Business Network to exhibit at the Beijing Overseas Property & Investment Show in Beijing.

RLB Caribbean’s Managing Director, Mark Williamson and Chairman Martyn Bould represented Rider Levett Bucknall at the event and were ably assisted by Lo See Wing, Simon Tuen and Peter Kwan from the Beijing office.

The show attracted more than 145,000 visitors over the four day period, looking to invest funds from China overseas. It included representatives from Australia, Bali, Greece, USA, UK, Mauritius, Cayman Islands and the Dominican Republic.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, carried live on Chinese television, Martyn introduced Rider Levett Bucknall and its global services to a large audience, focusing on the strengths of the firm’s global network of offices and resources.

He also explained how clients seeking overseas investment opportunities can benefit from over forty years of Caribbean expertise coupled with 20 offices in China, and highlighted the example of how the Baha Mar project had benefited: “Rider Levett Bucknall has spent the last two years working with the Export Import Bank of China as Project Monitor on the US$3.5 billion 3,000 room Baha Mar Resort in Bahamas. It is located in the northern Caribbean and being built by China State Construction and Engineering Co Ltd.

“This development provides an excellent example of the cooperation between a Bahamian developer, a Chinese bank, a Chinese contractor, and Bahamian Government incentives, being combined to produce a landmark project in the Caribbean.”

The resort is due for completion in early 2015.
